Make a Report

BACSA would be grateful for a report on any cemeteries you visit, and we have a standard Visitors Report Form for this purpose, but if you can amplify this with a fuller description of the cemetery’s condition with a few photographs to illustrate it, so much the better. Photographs and details of particularly interesting tombs or inscriptions will be welcome. Listing all the inscriptions will usually take much too long, but if you are able to do it BACSA will be most grateful. If you are intending to visit a cemetery it will be worth checking with BACSA to see what information we already have, and we may be able to supply you with a map showing its location.

This may include:

1. Plan of the cemetery (rough sketch with dimensions) would be very useful.

2. PHOTOGRAPHS. Bacsa will be pleased to receive not more than twelve general views, images of architecturally interesting tombs, striking inscriptions, or epitaphs to noteworthy persons, if any. Use a digital camera in case some of your images are selected for our website. Images should be captioned if not self-explanatory. If you wish to illustrate repair work needed, please supply hardcopy prints for consideration at Executive Committee meetings.

3. INSCRIPTIONS. Please copy as many as you can using pencil and paper or photography, whichever you prefer. Bacsa aims to upload them into a database for which they need to be transcribed into Microsoft Word or Excel. If you are able to do this on your return we shall be most grateful, but we realise this may not be possible.

4. Any ROADSIDE or ISOLATED tombs and monuments are also of great interest.
