Ashmolean Museum
Lewis Clarke / Oxford : Ashmolean Museum

In the morning there will be a walking tour of Oxford by professional guide Rob Walters on the theme of ‘Distinguished South Asians in Oxford’. This will be followed by lunch in the roof top restaurant of the Ashmolean Museum. Afterwards, Professor Mallica Kumbera Landrus, Keeper of Eastern Art, will give a lecture on the museum’s Indian collections, referring among other things to the British as collectors and patrons. Following this will be a guided tour of the Indian galleries. The details are below.

11.30 am: Walking tour begins from the entrance to the Ashmolean Museum, Beaumont Street, OX1 2PH.
1 pm -2.15 pm: Lunch in the roof top restaurant of the Ashmolean Museum.
2.30 – 3.15 pm: Lecture in the Ashmolean Museum by Prof Mallica Kundera Landrus.
3.30 – 4.45 pm: Guided tour of the Indian galleries by Denise Darbyshire.

The cost of the walking tour, lecture and gallery tour is £35 per person, which includes a £5 donation to BACSA. Lunch will be paid for individually at the time, depending on what you eat and drink. As we will be quite a large group, the menu will be circulated in advance, so that we can let the restaurant know our order.

Numbers are restricted to 18, and to BACSA members only in the first instance. To join BACSA, please visit the Join page. You can book and pay on line, via Events on the BACSA website. If you wish to book and pay by bank transfer or cheque, please email events@bacsa.org.uk for instructions.
