Nicholson Cemetery in Delhi

Named after Brigadier-General John Nicholson, who was killed during the 1857 Uprising, this Civil Lines cemetery contains graves of British officers and families who died during the siege of Delhi.

Garrison Cemetery in Seringapatam Karnataka

Situated on the banks of the Cauvery River, it holds over 300 graves of European officers and soldiers from the Swiss de Meuron regiment who were killed during the final siege against Tipu Sultan in 1799.

South Park Street Cemetery in Kolkata

Established in 1769, this is one of the earliest non-church cemeteries in the world and undoubtedly the most famous. Spread across eight acres in central Kolkata, it is famous for its massive neoclassical structures, towering obelisks, and pyramid-shaped tombs. It is the final resting place of notable figures like Sir William Jones (founder of the Asiatic Society) and the poet Henry Louis Vivian Derozio.

Maintained by the Commonwealth War Graves Commission, the Kirkee War Cemetery contains the graves of 1,668 Commonwealth servicemen from WWII and features a memorial commemorating 629 WWI soldiers.
