Visit to the Chelsea Physic Garden

May 20 @ 11:00 am - 1:00 pm

Chelsea Physic Garden

This event is for BACSA members only.

The Chelsea Physic Garden, established on the banks of the Thames in 1673 as a teaching garden by the Worshipful Society of Apothecaries, is the oldest botanic garden in London. It contains some 5000 species, many of them from round the world. One of the sections of the garden is devoted to plants from India. Our guided tour will look at the garden in general, and Indian plants in particular. Our guides will include BACSA member Marion Tijsseling, who has recently trained at the Chelsea garden. Numbers will be limited to 25, on a first come, first served basis.

The guided tour will begin at 11 am. The cost of the tour is £15.

Beforehand from 10.30 am, participants can meet in the attractive Garden Café for tea or coffee and refreshments (at their own expense). If participants would like to stay on afterwards for a group lunch, tables will be booked at 12.30 pm in the café. It is proposed that participants order and pay for their meal individually.

If you are interested in attending, please book and pay by bank card online or contact Rosemary Raza, 27 Rivermead Court, Ranelagh Gardens, London SW6 3RU if paying by cheque. Email: rrraza@hotmail.com. Tel: 0207 736 4842. Cheques should be sent to this address. Applications should be made by 21 April.

The Events programme has been suspended over the last two years owing to the pandemic. It is hoped that this out-of-doors event will be a safe way back to a regular programme.
