James Heywood, a cotton mill engineer from the Bolton area of Lancashire, went to Pondicherry in the early 1900s to work for Anglo-French Textiles Ltd (founded 1898). The grave is in the British cemetery opposite the French cemetery in Ambedkar Marg, Pondicherry. An old photo taken before the lower level of the plinth had sunk into the ground.
